After a year of almost no dances for the whole high school, they are back at it again with Homecoming, kicking off the start of basketball season for Okawville. Since Okawville doesn’t have football, Homecoming is always later in the year towards winter to kick off the start of basketball season.

Every week before Homecoming we have a spirit week that leads up to the pep rally on Friday afternoon. The Student Council is in charge of Homecoming every year, so they get to pick the dress up days for Homecoming week. Homecoming week this year is from November 15 to November 20. This year the themes they chose for each day were Monday- PJ Day, Tuesday- Country vs. Country Club, Wednesday- Mathlete vs. Athlete, Thursday- Class Color Day, and Friday- Spirit Day. This is a way for students to have fun and get ready for Homecoming on Saturday. This is something that students look forward to every year and keeps students engaged in the school activities. Having dances again makes school feel more “normal” in a year where nothing has been such.
