Lady Rockets Prepare for Post Season

Megan Schleifer

The Lady Rockets have had an interesting season to say the least. Nevertheless, they hold a record of 17-7. Senior forward, Madison Hackstadt, tore her ACL during the first two minutes, of the first game, of the season. However, the team has found ways to bounce back. With Hackstadt’s absence, junior Kymberly Schmitt was called upon to fill the 5th starting spot. Schmitt has done a great job stepping up this season. They started the season by winning the Nashville Thanksgiving Tournament, beating Nashville in the championship game, a rematch from the 2016 tournament, where Okawville lost by 1 to the Hornettes. Casean Tebbe and Madelyn Tepe were named to the first all-tournament team and Kymberly Schmitt was named to the second all-tournament team. Then, they followed the tournament with a big win over CORLHS and Nashville the following week.

They suffered a tough loss to Mater Dei, but bounced back with two more wins before the Mascoutah Holiday Tournament. The Lady Rockets went 2-2 in the tournament, taking 4th. Madelyn Tepe and Kathryn Lohman were named to the all-tournament team. They then suffered three straight losses to Lebanon, Freeburg, and Wesclin. In the final tournament of the season, the Highland Invitational, the Lady Rockets went 3-1, claiming 5th. Audrey Jansen was named to the all-tournament team. On senior night, the Lady Rockets defeated New Athens. Congratulations to Casean Tebbe, Madelyn Tepe, Megan Hettenhausen, Madison Hackstadt, and Audrey Jansen, and good luck on all of your future endeavours! The Lady Rockets will be hosting the 2018 regional. Good luck to the Lady Rockets as they journey into the postseason.
