OJSHS receives technology funding grant
November 10, 2020
Okawville Jr. Sr. High School has received funding to increase technology. These
funds can help the school to obtain Chromebooks for junior high students that can be
utilized in remote learning situations. Any leftover funds may be used throughout the
district.
Bayer’s Grow Rural Education program provided Okawville and 9 other schools
in Illinois funding to enhance STEM education. These grants are also provided in most
U.S. states each year since 2010. Local school districts can be nominated by farmers to
receive a grant. Mr. Berg along with the help of teachers and administration,Mr. Hostert, Mr. Senior, and Mr. Fuhrhop, applied for this grant in April of 2020. In June the applications were narrowed down to about 20-30 finalists. Then in August the final
selections were made. The grant was approved for $15,000.
