Science Club continues Trash Pick Up

Adysen Harre, Staff Writer

On Saturday, October 17, the Science Club did their annual trash pick up along interstate 64. They met at Dairy Queen at 8 a.m. that day before heading over to do work. Everyone who participated wore masks and socially distanced while picking up the trash. The weather was not ideal for this day, many of the volunteers dressed up nice and cozy because the temperatures were pretty cold that morning. It usually is every year they do this, so that was no surprise. Some students in particular had an extra exciting morning. Madi Weinstroer, Zoe Todd, Erin Nilles, Hannah Miller, and Megan Rennegarbe all found money along the road. Zoe and Erin both found $100, Madi and Hannah found $10, and Megan found $1.

Kim Lintker is the science club supervisor for Okawville High School and has been doing so since she has been here. Amy Koch, one of the volunteers that Saturday, said “It was fun and we had lots of help. The Lions Club really helped out too, and it was an overall great day.” Amy is also this year’s science club President. Despite the difficulties of 2020, the club overcame them and went out and did some good.
