Lucky, Lucky Ducks!

Lydia Luechtefeld, Staff Writer

Teachers and staff at Okawville Jr./Sr. High school and Okawville Grade School have all been entered in the Lucky Duck lottery. The lottery is for a mystery prize that has been donated. Some previous prizes included cakes,  pies, cookies, cupcakes, seasonal items, themed baskets, lottery tickets, and homemade snack items. Around 50 staff members have won the lottery with drawings held 2-3 times a week.

Once a participant wins, their name is taken out of the lottery to give others the opportunity to win. Winners are announced over the intercom by Mrs. Hood, who is in charge of the Lucky Ducks. Staff and faculty then go to the office to claim their prize and take a picture. The idea of the Lucky D

uck lottery came from a grade school teacher who used a lottery system to assign jobs to students for the week. The idea was then adapted to show appreciation and boost morale for teachers and staff.
