A Hollywood Homecoming
November 23, 2021
Okawville High School spent a night in Hollywood on Saturday, November 20. The annual Homecoming Dance was held in the Luechtefeld Gymnasium as usual. This year’s theme was Hollywood, put on by Student Council. City landscapes, a red carpet, and many lights were used to give off the Hollywood theme for the night. The dance started at 7:30 p.m. and lasted until 10:30 p.m., with Homecoming Court coronation at 8:30 p.m..
The Homecoming Court consists of one boy and girl attendant from the freshman, sophomore, and junior classes and three senior boy and girl candidates for Homecoming King and Queen. The 2021 Homecoming Court consisted of freshman attendants Camy Wiedwilt and Calvin Maynard, sophomore attendants Alayna Kraus and Bennett Krohne, junior attendants Maci Wolf and Franklin Walthes, and senior attendants Sydney Tebbe and Wilson Welch, Zoe Todd and Cole Wiedwilt, and Olivia Wiese and Harrison Borrenpohl. These attendants were voted on by their class. When the time had come, the 2021 Homecoming King and Queen were announced. The whole high school voted for one boy and one girl senior attendant to be crowned, and the 2021 Homecoming King and Queen winners were Cole Wiedwilt and Zoe Todd! Cole and Zoe had their first dance as King and Queen along with the rest of the Homecoming Court.
It was then time to let loose on the dance floor. Students had a blast dancing like superstars under the lights and loved the awesome DJ! However, all good things must come to an end. The students ended the night by forming a circle and singing “American Pie,” a tradition to end all dances at Okawville. There was a great number of students this year and everyone had a great time!
