Lady Rocket Basketball Takes Off!

Raelyn Obermeier, Staff Writer

As the Okawville Lady Rockets begin their season, they are starting the first few weeks off hard as they are having 6 practices a week for 2 hours, to prepare for tough games ahead. This is the Lady Rockets’ first year being in a conference. In their conference are the Carlyle Indians, Wesclin Warriors, Red Bud Musketeers, Sparta Bulldogs, and the Chester Yellow Jackets.

Along with having tough practices, the players have participated in fun games for learning the meaning of Veterans Day. On Veterans Day the Lady Rockets had a good hour practice then decided to play some fun trivia games. As well as learning a new inspirational word every practice provided with each player. Coach Hasheider and Paige Kasten also provide an inspirational quote each practice to tell us their hopes for this season and what to expect from us.

The Lady Rockets had their first game on November 20 in O’Fallon at the O’Fallon shootout at 12:30. The Lady Rockets defeated Hazelwood Central 55-22.  The Lady Rockets will then play in the Thanksgiving Tournament at Nashville the following week.  Good luck to the Lady Rockets as they start their season!
