Teacher Spotlight : Mrs. Frederking

Rylan Senior, JH Staff Writer

Mrs. Debbie Frederking currently teaches high school business math, junior high literature, junior high language arts, and computer information technology at Okawville. “I definitely enjoy teaching those subjects because all concepts taught are essential to developing skills that can lead to a successful future,” said Mrs. Frederking.  Her favorite subject is business math. She also said, “Being able to make smart financial decisions is so important for the financial well-being of every consumer. When a person is not responsible with money, it can have a negative effect that can be long-term.”

The school year has been extremely busy and challenging for her. Her free time is limited because she coaches most of the year. Mrs. Frederking is the High School Girls Volleyball Coach in the fall. She has a break from coaching until January with Junior High Girls Volleyball starting up in late January. She then continues coaching the rest of the year with Junior High Track in the spring.  The year has been challenging because of masks and Covid-19. Like everyone else, she is over the masks, but we have to continue to be vigilant. Students and teachers are better off in the classroom than learning or teaching remotely.
