A Rough Week for the Jr. Lady Rockets

The Okawville Jr. High 8th grade basketball team played 4 games last week. Their first game was against the St. Rose Wildcats. They had a good first half but they were down at the half 17-18. They came back from halftime with a fresh start but they couldn’t catch up, as St. Rose kept swishing 3’s. The Lady Rockets lost 40-24. 

On Tuesday, November 30 the Jr. Lady Rockets played the Albers/Damiansville Cougars. It was a rough start in the 1st half and they were down at halftime, but they came out strong in the 2nd half. The Jr. Lady Rockets made a comeback with an aggressive 2nd half, but it was not enough and they ended with a score of 37-32 Albers. 

The next day on Wednesday, December 1 they played the Smithton Cougars.  Smithton started strong and had a 6-0 lead, but finally, the Jr. Lady Rockets got some shots up and broke the lead down by two. The Jr. Lady Rockets were down by 10 at the half making it 6-16. They tried to catch up, but the Lady Rockets couldn’t get enough points on the board. The Jr. Lady Rockets ended with a score of 22-34. 

The Jr. Lady Rockets played All Saints Academy on Thursday, December 2. They started strong after a bad week, making a straight 10-0 lead. The Jr. Lady Rockets played hard the whole game and never gave up, as they were winning at halftime. They played well the whole game and pulled off a win. The final score was 34-12.
