The Okawville Jr. Lady Rockets basketball team recently competed in the annual Clinton County Conference Tournament. They were the #6 seed in the tournament out of 9 teams. Aviston was #1 seed with Breese right behind them in #2. Then, you had St. Rose in #3 seed and Bartelso in #4 seed. Next, Carlyle was in #5 seed and Okawville was in #6 seed. Albers was #7 seed with Germantown trailing behind in #8 seed and ASA in #9 seed.

For the first game of the tournament, Okawville Jr. Lady Rockets played the St. Rose Wildcats. They put up a good fight, unlike last time. The whole first half they were ready to play and kept scoring. They went into halftime losing by one 12-11. They came back from halftime still ready to play. It would go back and forth, for the lead, both teams staying neck and neck. Finally, the Lady Wildcats got a lead and the Jr. Lady Rockets started to trail. They still made a couple of shots, but the Jr. Lady Rockets couldn’t pull it off. They ended up losing 31-25 and that put them into the losing bracket.

Okawville would then play Albers/Damiansville who they had lost to the first time. They came out strong and pulled off the win. They were winning 20-6 at the half. They played hard and won the game, moving them on to play in the consolation championship.

They played Germantown in the Championship and put up a good fight. They never gave up and won 23-16. Okawville Jr. Lady Rockets claimed the title of Consolation Champions and ended the tournament with a 2-1 record. Good luck to the Jr. High Lady Rockets as they wrap up their season!
