Lady Rockets Win Third Straight Regional Title

After coming off a successful regular season, the Lady Rockets hosted their regional with play starting on Tuesday, February 14. The Lady Rockets received the number one seed and were looking for the program’s third straight regional title.
The Lady Rockets’ first opponent was seven-seed Dupo. Dupo beat the number eight seed Sandoval to battle against Okawville. The Lady Rockets came out ready to play and took a 24-1 lead at the end of the first quarter. Okawville headed to the locker room at halftime with a score of 49-6. The Lady Rockets did not stop there as they continued to succeed on offense, and claimed their regional semi-final win 71-14 over Dupo.
Alayna Kraus led the way for Okawville with 18 points. Briley Rhodes followed with 13. Megan Rennegarbe was a strong asset on defense with 9 rebounds. Camryn Wiedwilt also got 5 boards.
Okawville advanced to the regional championship game against Nokomis. Nokomis beat Christ Our Rock Lutheran to advance to the championship game against the Lady Rockets on their home court. The Lady Rockets left it all on the court for their last game in the O’Rena, coming away with a 50-10 victory and a regional championship plaque.
Raelyn Obermeier led the Lady Rockets in scoring with 15 points, going 5-7 at the 3-point line. Rhodes followed with 11 and Kraus had 10. Ellie Frederking led the team in rebounds with a total of 5.
The Lady Rockets will now advance to the Jacksonville Routt sectional, with their first game on Tuesday, February 21 at 6:00. Okawville will take on the host Jacksonville Routt. A victory would result in another trip up to Jacksonville for the championship game to be played on Thursday, February 23 at 7:00.
