Mr. Jason Rakers has officially joined Okawville as the new Jr./Sr. High Principal. He started his education at Aviston Elementary School. Later on, he attended high school at Mater Dei in Breese, IL. He furthered his education, going to Kaskaskia College and Quincy University, where he majored in history. He played baseball at both colleges. He started his teaching career working two years at Centralia High School, then made the move to Aviston Elementary, where he stayed for ten years. Then, he was a principal at Greenville District for eleven years.
I asked Mr. Rakers what he hoped to accomplish at Okawville. He responded, “I want to see our good test scores become even better and our school to become stronger at all athletic sports.” He then continued on to say, “We are known for our sports success in certain areas, but I want OHS to be known as both a top athletic and academic school. One of the best in Illinois!” We are very excited to have Mr. Rakers as a Rocket, and we are looking forward to seeing all the things he will accomplish as our new principal!
