This year’s boys golf team consists of both a JV and Varsity coached by Travis Kuhn. The members of the JV team are Braxton Rennegarbe, Bennett Krohne, Reid Hemann, and Jack Schuetz. The members of the Varsity team are Parker Wiese, Parker Lehde, Hayden Heintz, Braylen Turner, Shane Klasing, and Riley Clark. The boys started their season opener at home on August 10th with an excellent win over Wesclin, beating them by 37 strokes. Parker Wiese shot a 36, Hayden Heintz shot a 37, and Shane Klasing shot a 38. Every player put in the effort to shoot a 153 total to start off the season. The next match took place on August 14th. The Rockets went up against Marrissa and Freeberg. Okawville and Freeberg tied with scores of 164 while Marrisa had 199. Parker Wiese led the Rockets with a 37 and Shane Klasing had a 39.
I interviewed Hayden Heintz, a Junior on the Varsity golf team about his goals for the season. He responded, “My main goals for the season are to improve my putting and to place at regionals.”
Coach Travis stated, “The first goal for this year is winning the Okawville Invitational and the Conference Tournament.” He added, “The biggest goal for this year is to win regionals.” The next match for the boys is Tuesday, August 29th at Chester Community Golf Club.
