The yearbook has started working and has had two field trip opportunities for its editors to better their abilities. The first trip was on September 29th at ISU in Bloomington; it was hosted by IJEA. This opportunity was open to both Launchpad and yearbook editors with a good amount attending. There were 5 sessions that the students could attend: broadcast journalism, print and editorial journalism, yearbook design and writing, digital reporting, and journalism preparation for college. There were 3 competitive events that students could attempt: feature writing, news writing, and editorial writing. The second field trip was only open to yearbook editors and was hosted by a Josten’s rep at Carbondale High School. This workshop was used as a way to kick off the school year and get people excited for the yearbook. A majority of the editors attended with very few not being able to attend. Both these workshops have already helped the yearbook to be better and we are excited for more learning opportunities in the future.
