Many of Okawville’s seniors have decided on plans after high school already, one of those seniors being Zachary McBride.
Zach has decided to go into the military to serve his country. While the decision wasn’t easy, we all hope Zach will have a smoother ride once the actual training begins. Zach decided to join the army and is currently in the delayed entry program for it.
When I got to ask Zach some questions about when he wanted to join the military he said, “I wanted to join the military when I was probably around 15 or so, but I didn’t start seriously considering it until the end of my junior year.” It was a tough decision, as it would be for anyone. When asked about the hardest parts of signing on Zach told me, “It was hard signing the paperwork, since there was a lot, and I had to drive to Mount Vernon a lot.”
But there were people who helped Zach with the long and grueling paperwork including his grandparents and other family members. We here at Okawville are wishing Zachary luck in his journey to join the great men and women who came before him in the army.
