With high school quickly coming to an end, many seniors are looking for a way to make college more affordable. Luckily for seniors at Okawville High School, there are quite a few local scholarships available to them. One of these scholarships is offered by the Old Exchange National Bank.
The scholarship requires students to fill out a short application with their general information and write a one-page essay. This year the essay prompt is: What is a community bank and how does it affect the economy? The essay must not exceed one page in length and must not be proofread to ensure the essay is written entirely by the student. There could be up to 5 winners from the school with each student receiving $500.
If a student wins at the local level, the Old Exchange National Bank will enter their essay into the CBAI Foundation for Community Banking essay contest. These students will then have the chance to win the first-place prize of $1,000 a year for up to four years of higher education. There will also be up to 11 additional first-place $1,000 awards and 12 second-place $500 awards in each of the regions of the state. OHS students are required to submit their essay and application by 8:00 am on February 22, 2024. Best of luck to participating seniors!
