On Thursday, February 15th, OHS hosted a CPR/AED class for OHS students. Usually, these classes cost anywhere from $25 to $75, however this class was free for the students.
The class ran a little shorter than an hour and a half in the art room and was put on by the school nurse, Melinda Albers. Several students used the opportunity as an advantage. Among the students who attended were: Mallory Bening, Lexy Borrenpohl, Ady Harre, Raelyn Obermeier, Madi Wienstroer, Payton Meier, Hailey Kolweier, Madison Gogoleck, Kaylyn Cragen, and John Schaller.
These students had different reasons for taking the class; some work as lifeguards and childcare workers, and others used it as a good learning experience in case of an emergency. The CPR/AED class discussed strokes, heart attacks, choking, and what to do if an adult or infant needs CPR. If needed, students could purchase a K-12 CPR certification card for $4, a BLS certification card for $5, or a Heartsaver card for $18. Overall this was an amazing opportunity for the students at OHS, and they are now educated to help those in need in case an emergency arises!
