On Tuesday, Wednesday 13th, Senior Night was held at OHS. Eight seniors were recognized for their efforts over the last four years. Three members of the basketball program were acknowledged: Rylan Nelson and Bennett Krohne, along with manager Parker Lehde. Others acknowledged were seniors of the pep band. These students were Tyne Moore, Mallory Bening, Maggie Sawicki, Nora Wood, and Norah Hurst. Rylan Nelson and Parker Lehde of the basketball team were also recognized as pep band seniors.
After the senior night ceremony, 2019 OHS graduate Payton Reichmann was also recognized for his amazing accomplishments. After graduation, Reichmann attended Purdue University, where he studied industrial engineering and economics. Payton was honored for his brave decision to continue his career in the Space Force. We thank Payton for his service. To end the pregame festivities, the entire OGS sang the national anthem, directed by Mr. Zahour.
The Rockets hosted the Carlyle Indians. The game started out with Carlyle shooting the ball very well. Okawville tried to answer back, but Carlyle’s aggressive style of play was holding them back. The Rockets trailed the Indians after the first quarter. By the end of the first half, Carlyle led 26-17. The second half was more of the same story. The Rockets fell short 55-39. Although they did not get the outcome they wanted, Senior Night was a great turnout. All seniors will truly be missed at OHS!
Senior Night ended the Rockets’ regular reason. Their first postseason game will be a regional play-in game held on Monday, February 19th at home against Norris City. OHS looks forward to cheering on the Rockets during the postseason!
