The Okawville trapshooting team, also known as the Clay Crushers, will soon begin their season. Starting in April and ending in November, the team will practice every Thursday at the Sparta Shooting Complex. This year, the team has grown to 18 members: Harrison Borrenpohl, Owen Borrenpohl, Andrew Bunch, Lexi Fuess, Colton Kramer, Aidan Killion, Gabe Charles, Sarah Cook, Nolan Frantz, Paxton Schroeder, Clayton Hermanns, Case Borrenpohl, Wyatt Kuhn, Keegan Schmersahl, Brock Schuesslen, Dausen Hemker, Markus Kehrer, and Ethan Eckert.
Coached by Luke Borrenpohl and managed by Olivia Wiese, the Clay Crushers will participate in around 7-8 matches, usually at the Rend Lake Shooting Complex or the Sparta World Shooting and Recreational Complex. They will be in attendance at the White Tails Banquet on March 16, and will participate in Southern Illinois Youth Sport Shooting Association monthly shoots beginning on April 6.
