On Friday, March 15, the Okawville Jazz Band performed at the Addieville Fish Fry at 6pm. The jazz band is under the direction of Mr. Recker. Students in the jazz band include flute players: Eva Tooley and Laurie Mueth, saxophone players: Katy Forgy, Alexis Jarden, Madeline Dulle, and Madison Gogolek, trombone players: Clay Maynard, Nolan Frantz, Laura Cook, Paige Kolweier, and Xander Grigsby, trumpet players: Calvin Maynard, Nora Wood, Julia Helbig, Jared Bollmeier, Sarah Cook, and Sophia Wood, rhythm section: Judah Hurst, John Schaller, Evan Stine, Ryan Schwab, and Addysen Rennegarbe. The jazz band will be performing a variety of music including Latin, Rock, Swing, and Blues. With these styles, they play several popular songs such as Santana’s “Oye Como Va”, “Land of Make Believe”, and the “Sesame Street Theme”. Laurie Mueth, Katie Forgy, Madeline Dulle, Nolan Frantz, Paige Kolweier, Nora Wood, Sarah Cook, John Schaller, and Evan Stine were featured as soloists at least once throughout the set.
The lock-in was also held on March 15 at the school following the performance at the fish fry. Activities at the lock-in include dodgeball, basketball, volleyball, hide n’ seek, karaoke, just dance, lots of video games, and much more. Students will have access to multiple gyms, the cafetorium, and several classrooms.
