The JV Lady Rockets had their season opener on Friday, March 22, 2024, against the New Athens Yellow Jackets. The Lady Rockets were able to put 11 runs up on the board, but it just wasn’t enough to allow them to take home the win. They end up losing with a score of 12-11. Then, on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, they traveled to Belleville East High School to take on the Lancers. The Lady Rockets were able to put hits together for a total of five runs. They had a very good defensive game and didn’t allow the Lancers to earn any runs. They won the game with a score of 5-0. For their next game, they took on the Chester Yellow Jackets. The game was played on April 5, 2024, and was the Lady Rockets home opener. The Lady Rockets started firing and were able to put ten of their runs in the first inning. The Lady Rockets kept hitting well and were able to short-game their opponent with a score of 15-0.
Lastly, the Lady Rockets traveled to West Frankfort for two games. They took on the Marion Wildcats for their first game. Their offense carried a way that allowed them to put thirteen runs on the board and short-game the Wildcats. In their game, they were up against the Pinckneyville Panthers. The Panthers took the lead in the top of the third where they were able to score five runs. After that, the Panthers were able to put four more runs on the board. The Lady Rockets attempted to battle back but were only able to put four runs on the scoreboard. They lost the game with a score of 9-5. They currently have a record of 3-2.
