The Jr. Rockets dropped their season opener to the Freeburg Hornets, 15-4 in 5 innings. The Jr. Rockets took an early lead 4-1 at the end of the 2nd inning, but the Hornets tied things up 4-4 in the third. They blew the game wide open in the 4th, and the Jr. Rockets could not recover. Rigden Senior led the team with two singles. Landan Kraus, Jake Lange, Michael Todd, and Jayden Willis each had a hit.
Their second outing, a late game nailbiter, against Albers-Damiansville, ended in a 9-7 loss. The Jr. Rockets rallied to tie up the game in the 5th and took the lead in the top of the 6th, but couldn’t hold on. The Jr. Rockets giving up 3 in the bottom of the 6th inning lost the game for the Jr. Rockets. Kraus led the team in hits going 2 for 3 on day. Senior, Willis, and Colton Segelhorst each added hits for Okawville.
The Jr. Rockets take on Wesclin and Waltonville this week.
