Mr. Brent Rueter is our new business teacher at Okawville Jr./Sr. High. Rueter was born and raised in Nashville, Illinois. He attended Hoyleton Grade School and then eventually went to Nashville High School. After high school, Rueter advanced his education and attended Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He got a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Administration at Washington University.
Rueter took his first job at Goldman Sachs Investment Stocks for three years. After five years he decided to switch directions and he got a teaching certification from SIUE. His first job as a teacher was at Nashville High School, where he taught business classes. Since his first teaching job, he has taught at many different schools, including Springfield, IL and Cahokia, IL. Some of the schools he taught at include Lutheran North High School, McCluer High School, and Christ Our Rock Lutheran High School. Mr. Rueter has 28-plus years of experience as a teacher.
Mr. Rueter currently lives in Nashville, IL with his wife Celeste and his two sons, Spencer and Isaiah. He also has two grandchildren with whom he loves to spend time.
I asked Mr. Rueter what he was most excited about here at Okawville. “I am really surprised how much Okawville puts into their business program for a school of their size. I think you guys are lucky! This type of business curriculum is equal to much bigger schools,” he responded. We are very excited to have Mr. Rueter at Okawville!
