Okawville Junior High Cross Country had their first meet on Saturday August 31, 2024. It was held at Mascoutah with 27 schools total. This is the biggest meet of the season with many competitors from both Jr. High and High School.
On the Junior High team, there are five 8th-graders, four 7th-graders, and nine 6th-graders. The 8th-graders are Ransom Lugge, Brenden Heizer, Lydia Waltrip, Lucy Pille, and Skylar Wilfong. The 7th-graders are Kylie Klingenberg, Lilly Klingenberg, Penny Herzig, and Aubrey Charles. The 6th-graders are Jayleigh Cooley, Amelia Riechmann, Emma Gray, Aubrey Lange, Cambrie Hesker, Leann Waltrip, Korrynn Schuette, Kinley McGranahan, and Lydia Stine.
The girls’ race started at 8:00am and the boys’ race started shortly after at 8:30am. Kylie Klingenberg had a great race with a time of 13:50.00 and placed 21st for the girls race. For the boys race, Ransom Lugge also had a great race with a time of 13:56.40 and placed 73rd. The Junior High girls also placed 14th out of 27 schools for their race. Overall, Junior High boys and girls had an amazing run and will continue to run good for the rest of their season. Junior High Cross Country’s next meet was on Thursday Semptember 5, 2024 at Albers!
