Changing the World Through Journalism

The editorial staff of Timepiece and Launch Pad attended a competition in Bloomington at Illinois State University on Friday, September 20. The people who participated in this field trip included: Laura Cook, Sarah Cook, Paige Kolweier, Rylan Senior, Alexis Jarden, and Emma Hokeness. Every person participating in the workshop had the opportunity to compete in the competition. The competitions included feature writing, editorial writing, and news writing. Only one person competed, Alexis Jarden, in feature writing. Other than competing, the participants were also able to go to a lot of different workshops to gain more knowledge and insight on different things within journalism and yearbook making. Also among the students learning stuff from the workshops, Mrs. Donovan, the leader of Timepiece and Launch Pad, had taught one of those workshops. Even on the bus ride back, all of the editors had gotten together and started discussing how to better both the Launch Pad and Timepiece staff. Overall, this was an amazing experience for both editorial staff, and we are so excited to see what they do this year.
