The Illinois State Scholar list was officially released on October 8, 2024, and 6 students from the Okawville High School Class of 2025 received this recognition! The State Scholar Award recognizes seniors for outstanding academic achievement. Class rank, GPA, SAT/ACT score, and class size are all considered when deciding who the state scholars are. Around 17,000 students are awarded this honor yearly from 726 High Schools across Illinois. The recipients are Laura Cook, Sarah Cook, Claire Dulle, Caleigh Friedrich, Thor Gavin, and John Schaller. These students have worked very hard during their time in high school to receive this prestigious award.
Laura Cook is the daughter of Tim and Cathy Cook. She plans to attend college and major in Political Science/pre-law. She is currently undecided about a school.
Sarah Cook is also the daughter of Tim and Cathy Cook. She plans to attend college and major in Audio Engineering. She is currently undecided about a school.
Claire Dulle is the daughter of Michael and Dawn Dulle. She plans to attend college and major in Pre-Med and later become an Anesthesiologist. She is currently undecided about a school.
Caleigh Friedrich is the daughter of Mark and Stacy Friedrich. She plans to attend the University of Missouri to get a Ph.D. in Speech-Language Pathology.
Thor Gavin is the son of Jessica and Derek Gavin. He plans to attend college and major in Cybersecurity. He is currently undecided about school.
John Schaller is the son of Jeff and Karen Schaller. He plans to attend college.
A parade will be held at the school for these students on Friday at 12:20 p.m. This will be done with the Junior High Cross Country Team, which is going to State. Congratulations to these students on this amazing accomplishment!
