Okawville High School hosted its annual College Night on Thursday, October 17 in the High School library! Every student was encouraged to come with a parent to listen to the presentation about preparing for college.
Two advisors from Kaskasia College came to speak to students about applying to college and more information about filling out the FAFSA. They first gave a step-by-step outline on how to successfully apply to a school. They explained how to fill out a college application, how to decide which school fits you, the importance of visiting campuses, and how to fill out the FAFSA form.
The advisors broke down FAFSA in the second part of their presentation, explaining when and what to fill out. They also explained why it’s beneficial for students to fill it out sooner rather than later. They then explained what parts of the FAFSA to fill out, and the importance of each part of the application. The FAFSA application opens up on December 1, and the KC advisors encouraged all High School seniors to apply right away and not procrastinate this application.
College Night is a very beneficial presentation to attend for both students and parents. This presentation does a great job of clearing up any confusion with applying, and the KC Advisors are always open to answering any questions parents or students may have. We hope to see everyone attend in the years to come!
