From October 18 to October 20, the Okawville High School Drama Club put on the musical Beauty and the Beast. On Thursday, October 17, they put on the production for the school. The students ran a 1:30 schedule to watch the musical for the rest of the school day. This is a great way for the students to practice and have one last dress rehearsal before the actual show. This is also a great way for the students who aren’t in drama to still get a chance to watch if they can’t make it over the weekend. The kids in the production got out of class after their sixth-hour class to prepare. The play did extremely well. Beauty and the Beast was sold out on the opening night and very few tickets were left on Saturday and Sunday. Many people even said that they enjoyed this show better than previous shows. The students agreed and also enjoyed this show more than the ones in the past. There were a total of 850 tickets sold. The money the drama club collected from the tickets goes back to the district to help pay for the show. The money collected from the t-shirts, concession stand, and flowers will be used for their next show. The club raised around $1,000.00 overall. Good job drama club! And good luck in next year’s production, which was announced to be Annie.
