Junior High Cross Country Regionals were held in Herrin, IL on October 8, 2024. The Rockets would try their best to win another trip to state like they did last year. The girls had a team score of 40 and placed 1st in the regional. The top five girls’ scores that counted were Jayleigh Cooley (12:46.73), Penny Herzig (13:09.39), Amelia Riechmann (13:33.84), Lilly Klingenberg (13:36.18), and Emma Gray (13:41.34). Ransom Lugge also qualified as an individual for state by finishing 9th at 11:29.77.
Junior High Cross Country State was held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, in DuQuoin, IL. Ransom Lugge finished 130th with a time of 15:15.06. The girls placed 10th with a team score of 244. Girls who ran at state were Jaleigh Cooley (33rd), Emma Gray (42nd), Penny Herzig (51st), Lilly Klingenberg (55th), Amelia Riechmann (63rd), Mallory Epplin (76th), and Lydia Waltrip (85th). We are very proud of all the cross-country runners this season, and congratulate them for their dedication and effort this season!
