The Okawville Jr. High Rockets lost both games last week, starting with a 54-24 loss against the Aviston Eagles on Tuesday. Aviston jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter, and the Rockets could not catch up. The leading scorers for the Rockets were Rigden Senior with 8, and Brendal Turner who put up two shots beyond the arc to tally 6 points.
The 7th grade team was also defeated by the Eagles, losing 46-21. The Rockets’ leading scorers were Jake Lange with 11, Brendal Turner with 7, Colton Segelhorst with 2, and Jayden Willis with 1.
On Thursday, the Jr. Rockets went to Bartelso to challenge the Braves, which led to a disappointing 62-36 loss. Despite a ten-point drive by Senior in the third quarter, Okawville was not able to counter Bartelso’s top scorer, Reese Harre, who led his team with 27 points. The Jr Rockets’ leading scorers were Senior with 24 points, Lange with 7 points, Turner with 3 points, and Jayden Willis with 2 points.
The 7th-grade team hung with Bartleso until the 3rd quarter, eventually falling 41-14. Lange led the team with 5 points, Paxton Lehde added a 3, and Kyle Bollmeier, Nolan Heintz, and Willis each added 2 a piece.
