Okawville FFA Alumni worked hard the past few months to ensure their biggest event ran smoothly. Last week on Saturday, November 9, they hosted their Okawville FFA Dinner Auction which they host every other year. Even though the FFA Alumni hosted it, some FFA members also helped along the way. They loaded everything up on Friday night and moved it to the Addieville Community Club. There, they set up all the silent and live auction items with the decorations. Then, Saturday was when the real magic happened. At noon, they already had people coming in to start on the food for the dinner. There was grilled chicken, pork chops, baked potatoes, corn, green beans, and many cakes. FFA members and their families graciously donated the cakes and pies for the dinner.
As the day got later, more and more FFA members and parents came to help prepare for when the door opened at 6. As people came in, they immediately headed toward the silent auction items. After all the tables at the silent auction ended, the live auction started. There were so many good things there from the community. Every 2 years, the FFA Alumni puts this on, and the chapter officers donate something towards the auction: Lily Helbig (President)- A day’s work of labor, Abby Brenfleck (Vice President)- 1 dozen cookies and 1 dozen cupcakes or Gift Wrapping, Hunter Kolweier (Secretary)- Christmas Tree Shelf, Kate Borrenpohl (Treasurer)- Gift Wrapping, Izzy Howard (Reporter)- A evening of babysitting, Braxton Rennegarbe (Sentinel) – A days work of labor, Owen Lairson (Parliamentarian)- a reversible scarecrow/snowman holiday decor, Madison Gogolek (Historian)- A day’s work of labor, and Colten Kampwerth (Chaplin)- 4 tickets for a Rainbow Ranch Tour. With all these things donated, the officers helped raise $40,000. They also want to give a spotlight on Lily Helbig and Madison Gogolek; they were the top 2 officers who raised the most money. Lily raised $480 and Madison, with a new record, $700 for a day’s work. All this money raised will help with field trips, new equipment, new FFA Jackets, and so much more.
As you can see, this event was big and it took so many people to make this happen. With all this being said, Lily Helbig would like to say, “As the president of the Okawville FFA, as well as the rest of the members, want to thank the Okawville FFA Alumni Association, the Addieville Community Club, Diana Harre, Charlie Meier, and Mr. Berg for putting on the dinner action Saturday night. I would also like to thank all of the people and businesses who made any type of donation towards the event. It was a huge success due to your support as well as the patrons who purchased tickets and items. We all appreciate everything that you do for us throughout the year and we hope to see you all in 2026 to have another big turnout like we did this year.”
