Lady Rockets at Mascoutah Tourney

Over Christmas break, the Okawville Lady Rockets basketball team played in the 46th annual Mascoutah Girls Basketball Invitational Tournament. The Lady Rockets took the court against the Mascoutah Lady Indians at noon on December 27th. The Lady Rockets came ready to play and took down the Indians easily with a score of 44-29. Jenna Hackstadt and Kenley Hackstadt collected 10 points each while Caroline Tepe had 11. The win against Mascoutah put the Lady Rockets on the winning side of the bracket where they faced the Central Cougars that night at 6. The Lady Rockets stayed close through the first half with a halftime score of 20-11. The second half was more difficult for the Lady Rockets as they fell to Central 51-29. Kenley Hackstadt scored 13 while Brynn Rhodes had 8. After the loss against Central, the Lady Rockets played Belleville East on December 28th. The Lady Rockets stayed with them in the first half with a halftime score of 26-20. The Lady Rockets did not have enough energy to stick with them the rest of the game and lost 52-32. Kenley Hackstadt had 9 points, and Caroline Tepe had 8. The Lady Rockets then played the Freeburg Midgets at 1:00 on December 29th for the 7th place game. The Lady Rockets having their 4th game of the weekend made this game tough, but it was up to the effort. At halftime, the Lady Rockets were down 22-18, but they knew they needed to win this game, so it came down to the last and the Lady Rockets took the win by 4 with a final score of 46 to 42. Brynn Rhodes had 17 points, Caroline Tepe had 12, and Kenley Hackstadt had 7. The Lady Rockets went 2-2 and placed 7th in the tournament right where they were seeded. The Lady Rockets had a good tournament weekend and we are proud of them.
