The Okawville boys’ varsity basketball team played at the Pinckneyville Tournament (Duster Thomas Holiday Classic) from December 27 to 30. Their first game was played against Meridian High School. They put up a good fight but ultimately lost 76-68, leading the Rockets in points that game was Aidan Anderson with 24, and following behind was Braylen Turner with 19. Next game, they played Christopher where they pulled out a win with a score of 41-28. Aidan Anderson led again with 22, behind him were Landen Shubert and Braylen Turner who each had 7 points. After defeating Christopher, they played Mount Carmel. The Rockets won 48-37. Leading the Rockets in points was Aidan Anderson with 17 and Landen Shubert with 14 points behind him. Winning those games secured them a spot in the consolation championship game. In this game, they came together and defeated the Woodlawn Cardinals 56-46. The leading scorer was Landen Shubert with 21 points, and following him was Aidan Anderson with 15 points. John Schaller stated, ”I think the Pinckneyville Tournament showed our team that we are capable of a lot.” Overall, the Okawville Rockets played great at the Pinckneyville tournament and left with a record of 3-1 at the tournament.
