The Okawville Jr. High Rockets took a hard loss against Lebanon in their first game back from the winter break. The final score of the game was 47-17. The Rockets’ leading scorers were Rigden Senior with 6 points, Brendal Turner with 5 points, Jake Lange with 4 points, and Jayden Willis with 2 points. The 7th grade team had better luck and picked up a 44-18 win. Jake Lange led the victory with 20 points. Turner added 8, Willis had 7, Paxton Lehde made a 3-pointer, and Kyle Bolmeier, Colton Segelhorst, and Walker Hudgens each chipped in 2 points.
In the week’s second game, the Jr. Rockets had a competitive game against the Sparta Cardinals. They kept the first half close, trailing 26-19, but could not challenge Sparta in the second half, eventually losing 49-33. The leading scorers for the Rockets were Senior with 14 points and Lange with 10 points. Turner had 4 points, Landan Kraus made a 3-pointer, and Brendan Heizer added 2. The 7th grade team came out on top again, winning 37-34. The Jr. Rockets took an early 22-10 lead but came out of the half slow to let Sparta right back into the game. The Cardinals almost tied things in the third quarter 30-27. The Rockets held on to the lead in the fourth quarter and ended up winning 37-34. The leading scorers were Lange with 15 points and Willis with 10 points. Segelhorst had 5, Turner added 4, and Walker Hudgens chipped in 3.
