On Wednesday, February 6, the ACES team made the drive to Kaskaskia College to compete in regionals. They have been practicing for the last three months for this competition and were ready for it. Okawville competed in seven subjects. In biology, Claire Dulle, Sidney Charles, Jenna Hackstadt, Aidan Anderson, Caleigh Friedrich, Sophia Wood, Delaney Kuhn, Kate Borrenpohl, Carly Schmidt, Kaylie Behrman, Brynn Rhodes, Addi Hasheider, Petra Galliano, Katie Gogoleck, Anna Herzig, and Izzy Howard competed. In chemistry, Claire Dulle, Sidney Charles, Bella Welch, Calvin Maynard, Will Tepe, Aubrey Krieger, Kate Borrenpohl, Aiden Parker, Kaylie Behrman, Brynn Rhodes, and Addi Hasheider competed. Competing in engineering were Aidan Anderson and Bella Welch. For English, Sophia Wood, Delaney Kuhn, Carly Schmidt, Petra Galliano, and Anna Herzig participated. John Schaller, Thor Gavin, Will Tepe, Aiden Parker, Katie Gogolek, and Izzy Howard were entered in math. Participating in physics were Caleigh Friedrich, John Schaller, Calvin Maynard, and Thor Gavin. Lastly, Jenna Hackstadt was the only one who competed in computer science. The team was not able to get the results that day because the scantron they usually use was broken, but they got the results on Monday, February 10. Okawville placed first as a team for the 18th year in a row! Placing individually in Biology was Claire Dulle in 1st, Caleigh Friedrich and Sophia Wood tied for 2nd, and Sidney Charles in 3rd. In Chemistry, Claire Dulle placed 2nd and Will Tepe and Aubrey Krieger tied for 3rd. In computer science, Jenna Hackstadt got 1st and Aidan Anderson took 3rd. Next, Bella Welch placed 1st and Aidan Anderson took 3rd for Engineering Graphics. For English, Sophia Wood was the only one who placed, and she got 1st. Lastly, John Schaller placed 1st and Thor Gavin got 3rd for Physics. Congrats to those who placed and good luck at sectionals.
