On February 15, the Okawville 8th-grade volleyball team traveled to the Pinckneyville Valentine’s Day Volleyball tournament. Okawville’s first game started at 10:00, and the rest of the game times were TBD based on whether they won or lose. The first game that Okawville had to play was Ashley, and they had first serve. In the first set, Okawville won 25-14, and Ashley didn’t see what was coming. Then, in the second set, Okawville served first and won 25-17. Now that Okawville has won the first game, they will move up in the winner’s bracket. The next team they faced was OLMC, and they had first serve. In the first set, it was a close game; the score was 25-23, and Okawville won. Then, in the second set, Okawville served first, and then the score was 25-16, and Okawville had won their second game so far in the tournament. Now, it is the part that we’ve all been waiting for. It’s time for the game to determine who will get placed in second and who will win the Pinckneyville Tournament. Okawville played against Woodlawn for 1st place. In the first set, Okawville got to serve first, and Woodlawn won 11-25. Then, in the second set, Woodlawn served, and the score was close, but Woodlawn won the second set. In the end, ASA got 3rd, Okawville got 2nd, and Woodlawn got first place in the Pinckneyville Tournament. They only awarded medals to the first-place winners. Therefore, Okawville came home empty-handed, but they now know what they need to fix to win next time.
