On March 8, our 8th-grade volleyball team went to play in a Sparta volleyball tournament. To find out where everyone was placed, they had everyone in their pool play a match against each other to determine that. Okawville was in pool B and they had to play against Steeleville and Evansville in the Dawg Pound Gym.
The first team they played against was Steeleville. In the first set, Okawville won but it was a close match 25-22. Then Steeleville came back hard and won the second set 25-18. Okawville was able to capture a win in the third set and won with a score of 15-7. Then, the Jr. High Volleyball team played Evansville. In the first set, it was a close match but Evansville won that set, then in the second set Okawville came back strong winning the set with a score of 25-15. Now, it’s the set to determine who will win. Okawville managed to win 15-7. Okawville won both of their games. Now that they have played all their pool games, they will be placed in the bracket. Since Okawville had won all the games in their pool, they wouldn’t play until 1:30. The next game they played was versus New Athens, we had first serve. It was close but Okawville had won the first set 25-21. Then, New Athens served first in the second set, and Okawville won. They moved up in the bracket and played for first place. Okawville played Sparta for the championship game. Okawville lost the first set 25-20. Then in the second set, Sparta had first serve and it was a close set but in the end Sparta won the tournament 25-22. Medals were awarded to the first and second-place teams, so Okawville received second-place medals Congrats on a great tournament!
