On Monday, April 7th, the Okawville Rockets traveled to Breese Central, where they took on the Central Cougars. Breese Central jumped ahead in the bottom of the first inning, scoring 5 runs to put them 5-0. The Rockets did not answer well, scoring none in the top of the second, but could not hold the Cougars to 5 and allowed 5 more in the bottom of the second. With a small answer with the Rockets, they scored 2 runs in the top of the 3rd. The game was slow after that, and the Rockets lost 12-2.
On Tuesday, April 8th, the Okawville Rockets played at home against the Carlyle Indians. The game went back and forth for the first 2 innings until the Rockets’ bats came alive in the bottom of the third inning, scoring 2 runs to put them up going into the fourth inning. The Rockets could not hold the lead in the top of the fourth inning and unfortunately gave up 8 runs, leaving Carlyle up 8-2 going into the bottom of the 4th. In the last 3 innings, both teams were scoreless, and the Rockets were defeated by Carlyle 8-2.
On Thursday, April 10th, the Okawville Rockets played against the Carlyle Indians. Carlyle jumped ahead in the bottom of the first inning, scoring 5 runs on Okawville’s pitcher Braylen Turner. With no answer from the Rockets in the top of the second inning, Carlyle knocked in 7 more runs. Okawville scored 8 runs in the bottom of the 4th off 5 hits. After the 4th inning, the game was called for lightning and resumed at Okawville on Friday, April 11th. Carlyle then came back strong in the bottom of the 5th inning, scoring 5 runs to put them in a good position for the rest of the game. The Okawville Rockets lost to Carlyle 20-10. John Schaller, Hayden Heintz, and Calvin Maynard each collected multiple hits. The Rockets’ next game was Monday, April 14th, at home against Woodlawn.
