The Okawville High School Lady Rockets have won the Cahokia Conference, Illinois Division, back-to-back. On Wednesday, May 7th, the Lady Rockets went to Roxana and came out on top with 146 points. As well as winning as a team, numerous individuals also had great success. Caroline Tepe earned first place in the 800 and 400, Aubrey Krieger took second in Triple Jump and second in the 800, Kaylee Wolf placed fourth in high jump and fourth in the 100, Payton Meier also followed placing fifth in high jump, along with that Alyssa Statler placed first in 100 hurdles, Taylor Statler also placed in the 100 Hurdles earning third place and second in the 300 hurdles, Sidney Charles earned first in the 3200 along with the 1600 where she also scored first, Maddie Rennegarbe followed placing third in the 3200, Emma Hokeness placed fourth in the 400, Katelyn Gogolek also scored some points by winning second in the 1600. The team also scored points, winning the 4×800 (Caroline Tepe, Sidney Charles, Katelyn Gogolek, and Emma Hokeness), 4×100 (Alyssa Statler, Kaylee Wolf, Payton Meier, and Taylor Statler), and placing second in both the 4×400 (Alyssa Statler, Emma Hokeness, Payton Meier, and Caroline Tepe) and 4×200 (Alyssa Statler, Kaylee Wolf, Payton Meier, and Taylor Statler). The Lady Rockets compete on Thursday, May 15th, in sectionals held at Chester High School. The Lady Rockets have a lot of potential, and we are excited to see the amount this team can do as they get closer to the championships.
