On Thursday, August 28th, the Jr. High Cross Country team started their season with a meet in Lebanon. The girls’ team finished 2nd with Jayliegh Cooley finishing 4th place, Penelope Herzig 10th, Korrynn Schuette 16th, Cambrie Hesker 19th, and Leann Waltrip 29th. The boys had Caden Capecchi finishing in 17th place, Ryan Ronsick 22nd, and Conrad Schuetz 28th.
On Saturday, August 30, the Jr. High Cross Country Team had a meet at Mascoutah. This year, they changed it up by dividing the schools into a small school division and a large school division. Okawville was in the small school division. Caden Capecchi finished with a time of 14:52 and a place of 58th. Conrad Schuetz finished with a time of 17:47 and a place of 98th. Ryan Ronsick finished with a time of 17:56 and a place of 99th. The girls’ team placed 4th as a team. For individuals, Jayleigh Cooley, with a speedy time of 14:22, came in 10th. Emma Gray with a time of 14:48 and finished in 18th place. Penelope Herzig with a strong 14:52 and a place of 22nd. Amelia Riechmann was not far behind with a time of 14:54 and a place of 23rd. Korrynn Schuette came in 41st, with a time of 15:49. Cambrie Hesker finished with a time of 15:59 and a place of 43rd. Aubrey Lange finished with a time of 16:12 and a place of 48th. Aubery Charles finished 56th, with a time of 16:22. Leann Waltrip came in 83rd with a time of 17:50. Mary Klie finished 89th with a time of 18:09. Sadie Bergmann finished with a time of 18:49 and a place of 99th. Olivia Pyle finished with a time of 23:14 and placed 130th. Great job, Rockets, on a successful meet!
