On September 9, Mr. Berg took a group of first-year ag students to the Greenhand/ COLT workshop at SIUC. This workshop helped the students understand what FFA is and how it can benefit their futures. Including our school, nearly 650 kids attended. At the event, they were split up into different groups with kids from other schools. This helped the students meet new people and work on their relationship-building skills. After, they did different activities with their groups, such as dressing up a stuffed animal in a dress with limited amounts of material to make the outfit, debating on which tractor brands are better, and building 3D paper houses in five minutes. Each one of these activities had a meaning behind it, and it helped them understand the deeper meaning of FFA and what people in it really do.
