On Wednesday, October 22, sophomores and juniors had the opportunity to take the PSAT. The PSAT is a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT/ACT. It was optional and allowed students to take a “practice” SAT to see if it was a better format for them. Taking the test also gives students the chance to enter National Merit Scholarship programs, gain access to college/career planning tools, and work on test anxiety/time management. The PSAT measures students’ reading skills, math problem-solving skills, and writing skills. The test was given in digital format. This test was given during the school day at OHS. The cost for the test was $18. All juniors are required by the state to take the ACT in April. The April test will be paid for by the state and can be used for college admissions and scholarships.
