Ms. Amy Collins is a teacher and coach at Okawville Jr. Sr. High School.  She coaches grade school and middle school cheerleading. She told me that she has been teaching for 8 years and coaching for 5 years.  During these 8 years, in counting, she is a special ed teacher for younger kids. Her third year of teaching she started to coach. She said, ”I have had a very fun time at this school and can’t wait for more years to pass.”

“I love to coach cheerleading,” said Ms. Collins.  This year they have a squad of 6 girls. We have not had a full squad coach told me.  Coach Collins told me that they have between 60-70 cheers. Back when she first started to coach cheer they only had 15-20 cheers.  They only cheer at home games and tournaments. This is her first year having only 6th graders on her squad. Coach Collins told me this about her girls, ”They are very hard working and also a very unique, very dedicated group of girls.”  The girls’ favorite cheers are Rockets Fire up, Orange blue and white. Dominate that floor, L-E-T-S-G-O. They all also have the choice to make their own cheers. Five of the girls want to go onto cheer for high school and college. They all want to have more tumbling.  They all said,” We want to have more practice to get better at our cheers.”
