Homecoming Pep Rally a Success

On Friday, November 22, OHS had their Homecoming Pep Rally. This assembly was full of lots of fun and many events.

To start off the Rally, the Girls and Boys Basketball Teams showed off their skills as they would before a game. Following their warm-ups, came the Teacher Trotters Game. Mr. Gaebe thought of the amazing idea to host a game that was similar to the Harlem Globetrotters Game. Many other teachers joined Mr.Gaebe’s team as they competed against some of the boys from the Rocket basketball team. Mr. Gaebe says, “I’ve always loved to watch the Harlem Globetrotters ever since I was in 4th grade. I thought it would be a good time for the students to experience the idea of what it was like. I think everyone had a good time with it, including the teachers and students.”

After the laughs and smiles of this game came the relays. Each class had 4 volunteers who participated in the relay race. Although the assembly had already been a blast, there was more to come. Mr. Gaebe also thought of a new idea to have a dance-off. A few students from each grade danced to songs and were judged by their classmates in the stands. The winners received a free blizzard from DQ.

They finished the assembly off with a traditional Tug-A-War game amongst the classes. I would say this was a pretty fun and eventful Pep Rally to cheer on our teams as they take on the Rocket Season.
