The Okawville Timepiece and LaunchPad staffs along with the junior high yearbook staff went to Southern Illiniois University of Carbondale for the Southern Illinois School Press Association Winter Conference on February 26, 2020. This trip consisted of sessions that were set up for learning purposes to get a better idea of what newspaper and yearbook production consists of and how to develop it. A total of 35 students along with adviser Mrs. Donovan attended the trip.

There are also competitions that only high school students could enter and possibly win. In the mail-in categories, Nick Rulevish won 1st place overall website design, and Tricia Rennegarbe got 3rd place Student Life Layout, and Cheyenne Ellerbusch received 3rd place in Sports Photo. In the on site competitions, Macie Staley won 1st place in Yearbook Sports Writing.
