The OHS Music Department has launched its annual fruit and cheese fundraiser.  Changes had to be made to accommodate the current COVID environment, but musicians are adjusting to the changes.  Having‌ ‌an‌ ‌online‌ ‌option‌ ‌this‌ ‌year‌ ‌was‌ ‌a‌ ‌big‌ ‌change.‌ ‌The‌ ‌initial‌ ‌setup‌ ‌took‌ ‌some‌ ‌work,‌ ‌ and‌ ‌we‌ ‌have‌ ‌had‌ ‌some‌ ‌technical‌ ‌difficulties.‌ ‌We‌ ‌are‌ ‌past‌ ‌most‌ ‌of‌ ‌those‌ ‌now‌ ‌and‌ ‌I‌ ‌think‌ ‌everything‌ ‌is‌ ‌going‌ ‌much‌ ‌smoother.‌ ‌

One‌ ‌of‌ ‌the‌ ‌great‌ ‌things‌ ‌about‌ ‌our‌ ‌technological‌ ‌world‌ ‌is‌ ‌that‌ ‌

it‌ ‌organizes‌ ‌data‌ ‌instantly.‌ ‌Through‌ ‌the‌ ‌online‌ ‌system,‌ ‌I‌ ‌can‌ ‌see‌ ‌who‌ ‌has‌ ‌sold,‌ ‌how‌ ‌much‌ ‌has‌ ‌been‌ ‌sold,‌ ‌and‌ ‌how‌ ‌close‌ ‌we‌ ‌are‌ ‌to‌ ‌our‌ ‌total‌ ‌goal.‌ ‌It‌ ‌is‌ ‌also‌ ‌very‌ ‌simple‌ ‌for‌ ‌students‌ ‌and‌ ‌customers‌ ‌to‌ ‌use‌ ‌and‌ ‌buy‌ ‌from‌ ‌the‌ ‌online‌ ‌website.‌ ‌Lastly,‌ ‌the‌ ‌online‌ ‌option‌ ‌makes‌ ‌it‌ ‌easier‌ ‌for‌ ‌us‌ ‌to‌ ‌sell‌ ‌during‌ ‌this‌ ‌time‌ ‌of‌ ‌social‌ ‌distancing.‌ ‌I‌ ‌think‌ ‌that‌ ‌we‌ ‌will‌ ‌continue‌ ‌to‌ ‌use‌ ‌the‌ ‌online‌ ‌option‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌future,‌ ‌but‌ ‌still‌ ‌offer‌ ‌the‌ ‌paper‌ ‌option‌ ‌as‌ ‌we‌ ‌are‌ ‌doing‌ ‌this‌ ‌year‌ ‌too.‌ ‌

Over the‌ ‌last‌ ‌five‌ ‌years,‌ ‌fundraising‌ ‌profits‌ ‌have‌ ‌made‌ ‌large‌ ‌increases.‌ ‌Last‌ ‌years‌ ‌profit‌ ‌from‌ ‌the‌ ‌fundraiser‌ ‌was‌ ‌just‌ ‌over‌ ‌$5,000.‌ ‌Profits‌ ‌from‌ ‌the‌ ‌fundraisers‌ ‌are‌ ‌used‌ ‌for‌ ‌a‌ ‌couple‌ ‌of‌ ‌different‌ ‌purposes.‌ ‌We‌ ‌use‌ ‌some‌ ‌of‌ ‌the‌ ‌profits‌ ‌to‌ ‌update‌ ‌and‌ ‌buy‌ ‌new‌ ‌equipment,‌ ‌music,‌ ‌or‌ ‌other‌ ‌things‌ ‌for‌ ‌the‌ ‌music‌ ‌program.‌ ‌The‌ ‌other‌ ‌use‌ ‌of‌ ‌our‌ ‌profits‌ ‌is‌ ‌to‌ ‌help‌ ‌pay‌ ‌for‌ ‌the‌ ‌trip‌ ‌that‌ ‌high‌ ‌school‌ ‌takes‌ ‌every‌ ‌4‌ ‌years.‌ ‌With‌ ‌the‌ ‌money‌ ‌raised,‌ ‌we‌ ‌have‌ ‌been‌ ‌fortunate‌ ‌enough‌ ‌to‌ ‌make‌ ‌expensive‌ ‌trips‌ ‌affordable‌ ‌for‌ ‌all‌ ‌students‌ ‌in‌ ‌then‌ ‌music‌ ‌program.‌ ‌This‌ ‌is‌ ‌so‌ ‌that‌ ‌every‌ ‌student‌ ‌has‌ ‌the‌ ‌opportunity‌ ‌to‌ ‌participate‌ ‌in‌ ‌our‌ ‌trip.‌
