Wednesday, October 7, the Junior High Lady Rockets played their last game for the year. A terrible defeat that left every player, parent, and fans heartbroken from not being able to continue the exciting season together. They played Nashville, at Nashville.  The first time the two teams played this year Nashville went home with the win. Nevertheless, the Rockets went into the game with high hopes at a win and an eventual state title. Kaylyn Cragen pitched the entirety of the game, with four strikeouts and only one walk. Sarah Cook caught the whole game, and was the MVP of the game, getting the only two hits for Okawville and driving in the only run. Jenna Hackstadt and Camy Wiedwelt both got on base by walks, with Jenna Hackstadt crossing the plate. The team held their own in the field, but Nashville rattled the bats eight times total throughout the game, driving in five runs of their own. It was a tough battle, but in the end, the Rockets could not make up for the runs scored against them. The team had a good season, but all good things have to come to an end. The record of 8-6 for the season was a success for the team, gaining the title of Regional Champs. Coach Haylee Bowers when asked, said. “I was very pleased with the season overall. Coach Bowers and I have been very fortunate these past four years with both good players and a good community.”

“This year’s players have come a long way during this season. They all worked very hard to improve, and it paid off in the postseason. I’m excited to see where these players go in the future,” she said. “Houston and I look forward to the future Jr. Lady Rockets. We can’t wait to see where this program goes,” were her words for the future. I want to congratulate my fellow teammates for making it as far as we did, and emphasize that they each have done so much for this team.
