The Patriot’s Pen writing contest is an excellent opportunity for young authors to convey their emotions on patriotism. The contest is organized and sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) organization and open to 8th grade students. Participants are required to compose a 300-400 page essay regarding this year’s subject: What is Patriotism to Me? 

The Voice of Democracy contest is open to juniors in high school.  Participants in this contest were to compose a 500-600 word essay accompanied by an audio recording of themselves reading their composition aloud.  The topic for this contest was “Is this the Country our Founders Envisioned?”
