Lady Rocket Softball hits the field

Briley Rhodes, Assistant Editor

It has been well over a year since the Okawville High School softball program has competed in a game. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 season was canceled.

Since the last game has been played the Lady Rockets have acquired new coaches, Head Coach Jon Kraus and Assistant Coach Travis Kuhn. The new team consists of seniors Chloe Kraus, Bryleigh Prest, Shaye Sawicki, and Sevanah Hackstadt. The Juniors are Sydney Tebbe and Raegan Luechtefeld. Sophomores Briley Rhodes, Jordyn Heckert, and Hannah Adams. Out of the 19 players there are 10 Freshman Adysen Harre, Alayna Kraus, Lexy Borrenpohl, Tyne Moore, Madisyn Wienstroer, Kylie Going, Maggie Sawicki, Taylor Hettenhausen, Addie Wiechert, and Raelyn Obermeier.

The team is young but very eager to take the field and compete. I asked Jordyn Heckert what her goals for this season are. She replied with “I hope it is a fun and successful season. I also hope that everyone improves and can grow a closer bond with each other.” The Lady Rockets kicked off the season on April 22 at home against Woodlawn.
