The new kindergarten teacher, Ms. Haley Markus, is excited to start her new teaching position at Okawville Grade School.

Haley attended high school at Centralia High School and graduated in 2017. She decided to further her education at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville with a degree in early childhood education. Ms. Markus then did her student teaching at Webster and Whiteside Elementary.

This is Ms. Markus’s first teaching opportunity, although she is pretty new to the education field, she has a lot of experience with little children. Ms. Markus has a big family and is very used to being around young kids. Her preferred teaching position would be preschool or kindergarten. Ms. Markus says “I am ready to start my teaching journey and am excited to see what this year has for me!”
